“CRICOVA” winery is the founder of the production of high-quality elite wines and is rightly considered the pearl of Moldovan winemaking. The creation of this unique “temple of wine” occurred in 1952, when it was discovered the development of a microclimate, ideal for storing dry and sparkling wines.
Cricova has a huge collection of wines – more than 1 million bottles, including French, Italian and Spanish wines, as well as samples from many other countries.

The unique underground wine city Cricova is located in tunnels formed in a limestone mine from which Chisinau was built. Almost 120 km of underground tunnels, by which cars can pass, reach a depth of 100 meters from the surface of the earth. It was transformed into an underground wine cellar in the 1950s. Natural limestone helps maintain a constant temperature of 12-14 ° C (54-57 F) and a humidity of 97-98%, creating optimal conditions for the storage of wine. In the center of the basement are banquet and tasting rooms, thematically decorated (Hunting Lodge, Seabed, European Hall, Casa Mare, Presidential). Cricova is the largest producer of sparkling wine in Moldova, created according to the traditional method of champenoise.
